Red House is reunited in the present day at the funeral of Emma, one of the few girls they all remember warmly despite their different memories of Silver Creek. Jo takes the opportunity to confront Alice about what she thought happened back then. Alice responds with unexpected rage. At home, Jo tries to debrief with Ruby, but things are complicated at the house now – Saskia is behaving hurt and withdrawn. Jo attempts to forge a healthier path for herself by asking Saskia on a date… but when Portia seeks Jo out at work, she cancels, leaving Saskia devastated and the house hanging on by a thread. Out together, Jo questions Portia about Alice’s accusation at the funeral. Jo doesn’t get the straight answer she’s looking for, but the tension between her and Portia is electric. At a family dinner, Jo blows up at her mother who serves her a hard truth – maybe Jo isn’t as good as she thinks she is. Jo flees and seeks out Portia with a burning question: is their attraction real? At Silver Creek, Portia continues to torment the dorm, accusing Emma of being a lesbian and shifting her allegiances daily. The pressure of Silver Creek is getting to everyone, and Jo is exhausted trying to keep up with the gruelling physicality and mind games.
