Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah is a once-in-a-generation fast bowler who took the TATA IPL by storm with his unique action, searing pace and unplayable yorkers. The Gujarat pacer was picked from obscurity by Mumbai Indians in 2013 and has repaid their faith by becoming the spearhead of their attack. In 120 IPL matches, Bumrah has taken 145 wickets at an average of 23.29 and economy of 7.39.

Bumrah's IPL exploits have made him one of the first names on the Indian team sheet. He is the linchpin of India's bowling across formats, with almost 400 international wickets. Bumrah's unique skill-set was on full display in IPL 2020 in the UAE, where he picked up 27 wickets at 14.96 as MI romped to their 5th title. The 30-year-old's IPL highs include a sensational spell of 3/7 against KKR in 2017.

On the international circuit, no test bowler has a better average (20.69) than Bumrah since he made his debut in early 2018 (minimum 100 wickets, circa March 2024). In ODIs, his bowling average (23.55) since his debut is only behind Rashid Khan & Shami among major nations. With the bat, he’s very much a number 10, but interestingly he was the batsmen when a bowler conceded most runs in a test over - 35. The bowler was the same one who Yuvraj hit six sixes against - Stuart Broad.

Bumrah missed IPL 2023 due to a back injury. But he will be determined to come back stronger than ever and spearhead MI's quest for a 6th crown in 2024. The Ahmedabad lad lives with his sports presenter wife Sanjana Ganesan.
