Every conflict of the last 70 years has a defining image. For Iran, the image with the most resonance is that of a young Iranian woman, Neda Agha Soltan, whose death was captured by cell phone after she was shot in the chest during a protest of the Iranian presidential election results in the summer of 2009. Neda’s last moments quickly became one of the most widespread viral videos, and her death served to focus world attention on mass protests against a rigged election.
