The movie opened with a college social where a popular singer of a city-band, his name was Jeet (Prosenjit Chatterjee). He was the only son of his widowed mother & was unaware of his father's name & belonged to a middle-class family. In the function, he met a girl called Sriparna (Rituparna). From then they meet frequently & fell in love with each other. Sriparna's family was very rich & was brought up by her 3 elder brothers because she lost her parents in childhood. His eldest brother was like her father & he brought a proposal of marriage with a man named Joy Bose a big businessman with good heart. Sripana & Jeet stood against this proposal, but her eldest brother by his sentiment, forced Sriparna to leave jeet & get married to Joy. Jeet's mother died by his shocking decision & Jeet was mad to take revenge. Sriparna warned Joy not to touch her. Joy agreed & remained only her friend but acted as a husband in front of other people. He did not believe his wife Sriparna as a characterless woman as was claimed by his dead brother's wife and her brother. This trust of Joy brought Sriparna to feel for him. Meanwhile, when the couple are coming close to each other, Jeet entered in the scene with the new business-man look with lots of money. & tried to kill Joy. But Sriparna saved Joy from every nasty tricks of Jeet. & developed a hatred for Jeet who was her love earlier. One day he snatched all the property of Joy. Meanwhile, Joy came to know all about their past relation & wanted to hand over Sriparna to Jeet and sacrifice his love (his wife). Sriparna's eldest brother came to the scene & stated that Jeet was not a bad man & he joined hands with her brother to bring the couple close to each other & therefore intentionally developed hatred in Sriparna's heart for himself and also saved the entire property of Joy from being seized by the Joy's cunning sister-in-law & her brother. When Joy & Sriparna realised their faults they went to apologise but Jeet committed suicide.
