Israel Iran War: Who Is Esmail Qaani? Iran's Top Commander Alleged To Be Israeli Spy!Esmail Qaani, the commander of Iran's Quds Force, has not been heard from since he traveled to Lebanon following the death of Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah, in an Israeli attack last month. Esmail Qaani is an Iranian brigadier general in the IRGC and commander of its Quds Force. In 1997, Qaani was appointed deputy commander of the Quds Force, by chief commander Rahim Safav. The Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, appointed Qaani to succeed Qasem Soleimani as Commander of the Quds Force. As Deputy, Qaani oversaw financial disbursements to paramilitary groups including Hezbollah. Due of Qaani's absence, there have been rumors that he could be an operative of the Israeli intelligence organization Mossad, which is in charge of Israel's most recent successful operations. One insider claimed that Qaani was present for a strike that allegedly targeted top Hezbollah official Hashem Safieddine as he was in Dahiyeh, a suburb of Beirut. But according to the official, Qaani wasn't meeting Safieddine at the moment. According to sources, Qaani is being questioned and placed under house arrest over allegations that she is an Israeli spy, as reported by The Sun.Show more
