The Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), which was launched on August 15, 2019, with the ambitious goal of providing tap water supply to every rural household (19.34 crore) by 2024, has successfully provided tap-water connections to 11.96 crore additional rural households by October 10 this year, bringing the total coverage to more than 15.20 crore households, which accounts for 78.62 per cent of all rural households in India. At the time of its inception, only 3.23 crore (17 per cent) of rural households had tap-water connections and the mission’s aim was to cover the remaining 16.10 crore households.Show more
