The Tibet Earthquake tragedy has led to the relocation of over 45,000 people to shelters. A massive rescue operation began at the foot of the Himalayas, and research operations continued for several days in Tibet's high-altitude environment. The epicenter of the 6.8 Magnitude quake was in Tigri, with a population of about 60,000. The quake presented a formidable task to survivors in an area elevated over 13,000 feet.
