"With Sophie and Clive back together and engaged, Dennis rejoins the team and persuades Ted Sargent to reinstate Sophie in the sitcom -- promising a brilliant season finale. After a triumphant final show Sophie is approached by Gloria -- her estranged mother. She was in the audience. Sophie imagined Gloria left her and George for a brighter more glamorous life than Blackpool had to offer; the truth is more prosaic. Sophie still cannot forgive her mother for all the years of pain and hurt - for not staying in touch. But Gloria tells her she did write -- didn’t her father tell her? Later an emotional Sophie lets rip at the after-party. She tells Ted Sargent what she thinks of him and fires her nefarious agent, Brian. Reeling from the revelations Sophie is shocked by another betrayal; Clive is leaving the show having accepted a TV job in America. Clive tells her he doesn’t "want to end up a bit player in the Sophie Straw show".Show more
