Fifteen-year-old Jo tries to rally the girls into standing up to Portia but is the first to renege when she’s invited on a run to the teachers’ quarters to steal alcohol. When the theft is discovered, Jo lands in the principal’s office once again, this time with her most feared outcome. As adults, Jo and Portia wake up together in Jo’s bed. When Portia learns Jo is writing about Silver Creek she insists on reading Jo’s work, which leads to a rare honest conversation, and Jo shares the truth of her experience in Red House. Portia, however, remembers things differently and Jo gets a glimpse into the loneliness of Portia’s past. These moments of intimacy are everything Jo’s desired but deliver a final blow to the rapidly deteriorating share house. Saskia decides to move out and a furious Ruby lets rip with her opinion on Jo’s selfish behaviour. At Alice’s final performance, Jo and Alice say their farewells, but while Alice has settled her ghosts, Jo realises she still feels the need to revisit the past. Tormented by her memories, Jo makes the long and solitary drive back to Silver Creek to face her past, and finally let it go.Show more
